Artist Statement
Most of my work is directly inspired by different facets of the Victorian era. I am fascinated by historical interpretations of death, as well as how different death traditions shape the ways in which we think about our mortality. I choose to explore these topics in a multitude of different mediums, as I enjoy the process of experimenting with different brushes, textures, and programs. My work tends to merge traditional and modern mediums not only because of my interest in experimentation, but also because of the fact the combination of the new and old is actually a very Victorian practice. Besides the death exploration and research that is present in my work, I also enjoy exploring ideas of the unknown and uncanny.
